Western Galilee Desalination Plant (Israel)

About

The Western Galilee desalination plant, named Birkat Miriam, is Israel’s first large-scale seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) facility in the northern region. It is designed to strengthen Israel’s water resilience and supply potable water to the Haifa, Western Galilee, and Upper Galilee regions.

This project represents IDE’s fifth large-scale BOT desalination plant in Israel and incorporates cutting-edge technologies, optimized energy utilization, and minimal chemical usage. Despite its inland location and strict water quality standards, the plant achieves one of the lowest global water prices for seawater desalination.
