On December 10th, China’s Minister of Water Resources, Mr. E Jingping and his delegation visited the Sorek Desalination Plant. The delegation included Mr. Shi Chunxian, Director General, Department of Planning and Programming; Mr. Xu Wenhai, Director General, National Water Conservation Office; Mr. Liu Zhiguang, Director General, Department of International Cooperation, Science and Technology; Ms. Xu Jing, Division Chief, Department of International Cooperation, Science and Technology; and Mr. Xu Gang, Deputy Division Chief, General Office.
CEO of IDE Assets, Mr. Gal Zohar, led the Chinese delegation’s tour and highlighted how IDE’s unique water treatment technologies are implemented as part of the desalination process at Sorek, and the benefits this provides for municipal and industrial use. Mr. Jingping was interested in learning more about seawater desalination, and was surprised by the pure taste of the water. As China continues to face water scarcity, seawater desalination is a viable option to create a continuous water supply.
